| Fishing Canadian Walleye Championship is an annual event and this year will be its fifth consecutive year and they have recently branched out and started a Youth Angler Mini Tournament just 2 days before the walleye championship. This event is a must for the avid fishermen/women. For more information check the website Canadian Walleye Championship or e-mail Kim Wilson, Tournament Director klwilson@mts.net St. Georges Voyageurs Fishing Tournament has been up and running for the past 12 years and supports a local community group. They host two tournaments a year: one in October (Canadian Thanksgiving weekend) with a limited entry of 110 boats, there is an early bird entry of September 1st; and an ice fishing derby in February where all the fishermen are enclosed in a large tent to protect you from the elements of nature. This ice fishing derby has a limit of 100 where the spots were pre-sold, it was such a successful event they may look at getting a larger tent to house more fishermen for the future. To register for either of these events contact Raymond Houston at (204)367-8533 or Dave Lagasse at (204)367-2460 or mail in your interest to Box 37, St. Georges, MB R0E 1V0.
