Winnipeg River Greenback Championship is an annual event and this year will be its fourth consecutive year. This event is a must for the avid fishermen/women. St. Georges Voyageurs Fishing Tournament has been up and running for the past 18 years and supports a local community group. The tournament is held in October (Canadian Thanksgiving weekend) with a limited entry of 110 boats. To register for this event contact Kevin Mongrain at 204-340-1660 or Steve Kush at 204-340-1090.
You will find fishing beyond compare, the walleyes give a good fight when you are trying to reel them in. There is a general closure for this region of April 1st to and including May 13th. Remember limits are as follows:

All walleye between 42 cm (16.8") and 70 cm (28") must be released in the area south of the Gammon-Bloodvein rivers to the south and west shores of the Winnipeg River, including Lac du Bonnet, and the southern boundary of Whiteshell Provincial Park and from Lake Winnipeg to the Ontario border (excluding the Winnipeg river from the Pine Falls Dam to Lake Winnipeg).
